California Proposition 65

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law requiring businesses to provide warnings about even minimal exposures to chemicals that may cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. These warnings are required for products sold in California, even if the actual risk of harm is extremely low or the exposure is minimal. This regulation applies to a wide range of products, including purses, electronics, furniture, and food.

Why is this warning on our products?

California has some of the strictest product labeling laws in the country. Businesses selling products in California must include the Proposition 65 warning if there’s any possibility of a listed chemical being present, regardless of how small the amount is or whether there is any real risk. This warning is required for compliance, even if the product is perfectly safe for normal use.

Our products, like many leather and synthetic items, may contain trace amounts of chemicals such as dyes, adhesives, or synthetic materials that are commonly used in manufacturing worldwide. The inclusion of the warning does not mean that the product is unsafe—it’s a precaution required by California law.

Is the product safe to use?

Absolutely! The safety and satisfaction of our customers are our top priorities. Our products are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed federal safety standards. The materials we use, such as leather and synthetic fabrics, are carefully selected and tested for quality.

The Proposition 65 warning does not mean that your bag will cause cancer or harm. Instead, it’s a legal requirement for all products sold in California, ensuring transparency about even trace amounts of chemicals that may be present. Many of these chemicals are found in everyday items and are unlikely to pose any risk during normal use.

What steps are we taking?

We are committed to offering safe, high-quality products. To meet these strict regulations, we work closely with our suppliers to ensure all materials comply with safety standards. It’s important to note that the Prop 65 warning is unique to California’s regulations and is not required by federal safety standards, which are met or exceeded by all of our products.
